Converted in a home prayer meeting while at Halle University in 1825, he went to London in 1829 to train as a missionary to the Jews moved to a pastorate in Bristol in 1832. It was here he opened an orphan home with 26 orphans which would become 2100 children at any one time by 1875! He was father to more than 10,000 orphans, helped 121,000 students, centre 163 missionaries, received over 20,000 answers to prayer and praise in several million dollars – all achieved by faith in God’s word! Is last year’s, 1875-92, were given to worldwide evangelism in 42 countries. This later ministry is the focus of this book.
